Five Reasons Why Children Stop Playing The Piano

Although this doesn't pertain directly to pump organs, I've always found it to be good information.

Doesn’t like the teacher
The teacher is a very important first step. The personality needs to be there. The relationship needs to work. And the teacher needs to be a good motivator

Piano out of tune
This is probably the cheapest part. To pay $100 every six months is a real deal. Why pay a piano teacher every week and not pay a dime to keep the piano in tune

Mechanically bad piano
No one likes to drive a car that doesn’t run right; it’s the same thing with a piano.  The typical piano has approximately 9,000 parts to it and they all need to operate correctly. It’s very possible your piano needs to have the original factory settings reestablished. This term is called “regulating”

Talents not there
No parent wants to hear their child doesn’t have any talent, but sometimes it’s just the true. If you’re having your child learn to play the piano to develop good self-esteem, you may need to consider dance, or soccer.

Parent’s attitude
Parents need to be involved and supportive. If parents have a half hearted attitude about them learning the piano, chances are they will to. Children need a lot of encouragement from parent, lots of it
