The Estey Philharmonic Organ

This Philharmonic Organ, built by Estey, is not your typical, garden variety, antique, parlor reed organ. Casey Pratt, the authored this article, provides us with an excellent over view of this particular model of reed organ. It might be a stretch, but one could say what the grand piano is to the piano world, the philharmonic reed organ was to the reed organ world.

The philharmonic style of organ has the ability to deliver a volume of sound that the parlor organ is just not capable of generating. By its very name the parlor organ was designed and built for what we call today, a living room. However, back 100 plus years ago, it was called a parlor.

There was a reason Estey named this organ a philharmonic organ, because it gives an indication of the area size the organ was designed to be use in, such as large halls, churches, or theaters.
